What you do for a living should be more than a job that pays the bills -- it should be a career in which you are invested, and the company for which you work should be invested in you. If you are an innovative, collaborative professional looking for a challenging career defined by compelling work and personal growth, you have found the right place. Hanson’s commitment to our clients reflects our allegiance to our most valued asset – our employees.
Our philosophy
At Hanson, we see our team as the key to our mission of giving our clients top-notch service and results. When Walter E. Hanson founded our company in Springfield, Illinois, in 1954, he started what would become a legacy of employee pride and ownership. As an employee-owned company since 1972, we recognize that our growth and prosperity are linked to our clients’ success. Allowing our employees to share in Hanson’s success is a way of investing in our future and the future of the communities we call home.
Our communities matter to us, and many of our employees are active in civic organizations and volunteer activities. Giving back and getting to know the people our projects affect brings us a perspective that elevates our work.
“Hanson is a great place to work, with a talented, hard-working staff. I am very happy I chose to make the move here, and I have never looked back from that decision.” John Nelson, vice president and senior project manager
Benefits and opportunities
We empower our employees to pursue professional and personal development, offering reimbursement for school tuition, licensing and certifications. Training, mentoring, coaching and sharing are all hallmarks of Hanson’s employee-owned philosophy, and we recognize and reward our employees’ accomplishments. We know that happiness outside of work equals productivity on the job, so we give our employees the flexibility they need to foster a healthy work-life balance. Our focus on people also means generous health and wellness benefits, open communication and a team-oriented environment.
Our paid internship program offers college students a multitude of full-time and part-time summer positions to complement their classroom experience. We have hired many of our interns for permanent, full-time jobs upon their graduation.
Diversity matters to us
Hanson also believes in the power of a diverse workforce. As part of the Grow Our Own program, based at our Springfield headquarters, we partner with the city of Springfield and Sangamon County to educate and ultimately employ minority youth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. We also offer Springfield-area high-school students the opportunity to explore engineering through our Shadow Hanson program.
Since our founding, we have nurtured an inclusive culture that has helped us grow and contribute to the world around us. We hope you’ll join us.
